This photo is of the successful Oldham side of the 1950’s which will be branded into the memory of every Oldham rugby league supporter of a certain age. It is, of course, taken during the period when the team brought back to Watersheddings the 1956-57 Championship Trophy and won the Lancashire Cup on three successive occasions.

Exhibitions & More

The workings of the trust have indeed been varied. Besides recording and preserving the history of a great club exhibitions have been organised, films shown, streets names in honour of those who have served the club and commemorative blue plaques unveiled and more, much more.

2012 saw Gallery Oldham hosting the fantastic "Art in Rugby" exhibition which displayed some of the interesting and unusual pieces of art and sculture from our collection, together with some items on loanm, including the Hybrid Wolf sculture from our very own Roughyeds player Liam Gilchris. Once again the Gallery saw great attendances for this exhibition and we thank all who attended.

The excellent Rugby League Heritage Centre where we have had a permanent display depicting the history of the Roughyeds is currently closed following the closure of the George Hotel in Huddersfield, the birthplace of the game. Once a new venue is found, we hope to again display some of our vasy collection.
