Career: 1995-96/1997

Heritage No. 1035

Player profile

Signed from Wigan at the start of the 1995 centenary season, as the club began preparations for “Super League”. Paul originally played for the St Helens amateur team Blackbrook and had a spell at Widnes before arriving at Central Park.

He represented Great Britain at academy level and through parentage has won full Welsh honours. A big powerful full back, Paul enjoyed an impressive first season in “Super League” (1996), where his talent for linking up with the attack made him the leading try scorer for the club with eleven touchdowns. Also safe on defence, he added a touch of quality to the side that helped Oldham surprise much of the Rugby League media by consolidating their position in the top flight, finishing in eighth place.
